Hopling Technologies announces the deployment of Liverpool, UK’s first Metropolitan Area Network

Hopling Technologies, the world-leading provider of wireless meshed network solutions today announced the deployment of UK’s first wireless metropolitan area network in Liverpool.
The wireless metropolitan area network in Liverpool is owned and operated by NUBLU Technologies and is already operational. The official launch of the seamless metropolitan area network coincided with the Liverpool Biennial 2004 festival. For the duration of the Biennial festival, the service will be free of charge. Visitors can use the wireless service to find their way through the exhibition. Businesses and residents in the coverage zone can trial the service, which is set to outperform landline based broadband.
The network is designed by NUBLU Technologies and uses Hopling Technologies’ superior mesh networking technology, which provides seamless access anywhere anytime anyplace within the coverage zone. The wireless network in Liverpool is based on Hopling Technologies’ wireless meshed-based products, specially designed for robust outdoor use in demanding metropolitan environments. NUBLU Technologies plans to roll out the service across Liverpool’s town centre and core areas of the city within the next two to three months.
Hopling Technologies’ wireless meshed network solution employs an innovative method for routing IP packets between nodes. Simply adding another node will extend the range of the wireless metropolitan area network thus creating a seamless broadband internet network. The seamless network in Liverpool provides bandwidth control, roaming, universal access methods and additional access security.
With the successful deployment of the wireless metropolitan area network, each user has access to true mobile broadband connectivity. Anyone with a computer, notebook, PDA or mobile phone which is wirelessly enabled, can use the broadband connectivity services. With the help of one the standard features of the Hopbase server you can simple start a wirelessly enabled device, select the network, activate the internet-browser and sign-up by using a credit card or enter the username password combination.
“After a successful trial period with multiple users in Liverpool, we are now ready to go live and provide this service to the public. Besides wireless broadband services, the transparent network will also cater to use of wireless voice over IP services in order to make cheap internet. We are currently involved in network design and planning for numerous cities in Europe, which we will announce shortly,” according to David Fox, MD of NUBLU Technologies.
Frank Koopman, CEO of Hopling Technologies said “We are very pleased with the Liverpool initiative of NUBLU Technologies based on our superior mesh networking technology. We see the deployment of cities like Liverpool and Amsterdam as the first wave towards true mobility, with people wanting access anywhere, anytime, anyplace.”
NUBLU Technologies looks forward to continue using Hopling Technologies products to further expand its seamless metropolitan area network throughout Liverpool. Announcements of future deployments in Europe are expected within the next few months.
