Spanish Start-up Launches in Hot New Wireless Sector

Atalum Wireless SA, a leading provider of standard-based reliable and secure wireless solutions that sense, monitor and control anything from anywhere to create smart WSNs (Wireless Sensor Networks), today announced its official launch to the marketplace.
Atalum was founded in 2003 by entrepreneurs with a proven track record for creating and building technology companies and executing on-time corporate deployments with expertise in embedded systems and LR-WPAN (Low Rate Wireless Personal Area Networks) technology.
Atalum is led by Sandra L. Wear whose technology career includes founding a company named one of the Top 100 Emerging Companies by Computerworld (subsequently acquired by a public company for a record amount) and the launch to market of award-winning patented business applications for Fortune 500 companies.

Atalum is privately backed with noteworthy investors that include Dr. José Manuel Páez Borrallo, Vice-President of one of the world's leading engineering universities, UPM (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid), who is responsible for the creation of the first research center focused on smart technology (smart homes, smart buildings, etc.) in Spain.
Atalum will begin pilots in early 2005. Atalum maintains headquarters in Madrid, Spain to leverage the strong engineering expertise available but plans to open offices in its target markets (North America, Europe, Asia) in the near-term.
